Choosing bedroom accessories such as teen rug, bedding and color scheme for your teenagers room is a daunting task. Teens are fearless when it comes to decorating their rooms.
They flout all decorating rules and indulge in bedroom themes and designs that you would never have even thought possible.
Color scheme is THE most important element in your teen bedroom designs. There are two ways to go about selecting the right paint colors for teen rooms.
You could decide on a color scheme first and then go about purchasing the bedroom accessories in the chosen shades.

Or you could decide on a theme for the bedroom and the paint colors would naturally follow.
For example, a beach theme would encompass golden yellow sands and warm blue waters with a few off white seashells strewn around; a zebra décor would necessitate a black and white teenagers room with perhaps one extra pop of color thrown in to soothe the eye.

When thinking up teen bedroom ideas, grin as you throw all decorating rules out the window. Mismatched furniture will look right at home here (stencil a unifying design); intense colors won't clash (just sneak in a neutral accent here and there); and mixed decorating styles of antique and modern furniture will simply give your teenagers room a rich personality.
The olden days where girl bedroom themes were pretty pink flowers or boy bedroom themes were cowboys and sports are long over. Today you can just as easily find cowgirl themes in the girls room while boys go for Hawaii decor. In other words the teen bedroom themes are getting less gender bound and more universal.
As you indulge your imagination with funky teen bedroom ideas, remember that functionality is key. As long as the room serves all its purposes of sleep, study and social zones; your teen can play with colors, themes and personalizing d-i-y crafts to give his space his individual stamp.
